I just got a Google Chromecast, and wanted to see if my kitchen TV has an HDMI port so I could use it on that TV. Now, said kitchen TV is mounted under a cabinet with very little space to negotiate behind it. So, I canned 9 pints and a 12 oz. jar of peppers and onions yesterday, and I need to find a home for them in my cupboard. I was thinking of taking New Year’s Day (yep, thinking out that far ahead) to do a canned goods inventory, to see what I’ve got left and what I want to can during 2014. But as I was trying to find space for these 10 new jars, I figured I should just do the inventory now. A quick hint for the morning – every once in a while, when you go to put your clean silverware, take a minute to wipe out the organizer tray thingie if you have one. You’d be amazed at how much gunk can collect in there! A wash rag, damp paper towel, Lysol wipe, take your pick – it only takes a minute!
Like most of the Apple fanbois and fangrrrls out there, I updated both of my iDevices to iOS7 on the first day it was available. There are definitely some new days of doing things that will take some getting used to! It took me a bit to figure out how to delete a single message from a text “conversation” on my iPhone 5, like maybe I’d used a Redbox code, or I was messaging myself a reminder and wanted to delete the message after I’d done the task. Save your vegetable scraps! I know a common use for scraps is to compost them for use in gardens. Well, I don’t have a garden (yet), so composting is out of the picture for now. Instead, I keep a gallon Ziploc bag in the freezer, and I fill it with vegetable scraps. Read the rest of this entry
