So, I canned 9 pints and a 12 oz. jar of peppers and onions yesterday, and I need to find a home for them in my cupboard. I was thinking of taking New Year’s Day (yep, thinking out that far ahead) to do a canned goods inventory, to see what I’ve got left and what I want to can during 2014. But as I was trying to find space for these 10 new jars, I figured I should just do the inventory now. That way, if Bountiful Baskets has some good deals on case goods, I know what I could use to can.
Now, I’ve found a couple canning inventory sheets out there on the interwebs thanks to the help of Uncle Google, but they weren’t quite what I needed. I liked the outlines of jars that you could write dates in – that would work fine. But I can in more sizes than quarts, pints, and half pints. With just the 2 of us, the pint-and-a-half jars and 12 oz. jars are perfect for soup for 2 or for a single serving. I whipped up a quick inventory tracking spreadsheet on Google Drive that fit my neuroses a bit better than what was out there. Feel free to download and use!
