Testing doesn’t stop when you take the ACT!

One of my “gigs” is radio engineering.  I’ve been doing this for a couple years, first in tandem with another engineer and lately moving into doing it on my own.  In June, I was elected as a full member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers.  The SBE runs a certification program for its members “behind the mic”.  Television and radio engineers can take these tests to certify their knowledge of  and competence in their industry.  As an entry-level engineer, I opted to take the corresponding exam to (hopefully) be designated a Certified Broadcast Technologist.  I’ve spent a lot of time since June studying for this exam, both with the SBE’s CertPreview software and by studying books from the recommended list.  Yesterday was test day. Now comes the wait.  Small envelope = fail.  Big envelope = pass.  I feel like it’s college application time all over again …
